Well Wed Podcast
For the life beyond the checklist.
For a while now, I’ve been thinking about starting a podcast.
I’ve worked in weddings for over a decade, so I know how to plan one. What I didn’t expect was everything after. Building a life together brought questions I hadn’t thought to put on a checklist. Some were practical. Some were much harder to pin down. These days I coach couples full time and edit Well Wed, a Substack about relationships and wellbeing. I still work in weddings too, and I’m a part time psychology student, which has mostly made my list of questions longer.
The podcast grows out of the Substack. It’s a way to keep that conversation going out loud, and to talk directly with the professionals who study this for a living. Less me reading the research and wondering, more me asking the people who did it.
The subjects I keep circling are wide. Money, and the general business of adulting. Relationship psychology, and psychology more broadly. How attachment style and family of origin show up in our adult relationships and in our own growth. The nervous system, somatic work, trauma, and what neuroscience is learning about all of it. Gut health and nutrition. Mindfulness and MBSR. Personal development and coaching, and the way the mind and body keep turning out to be the same conversation.
I’ll bring the questions and my tendency to go seventeen browser tabs deep. What I’m looking for now is people to make it with.
If you’re a researcher, practitioner, coach, or anyone working in these areas, and something here sounds like a conversation you’d want to have, I’d love to hear from you. It’s early. Nothing is fixed yet, not even the format, which feels like exactly the right time to start talking.
What Sets Us Apart
There are plenty of podcasts about weddings, wellness and relationships. A lot of them come with a warning attached. Ours is more of an open question.
I’m nobody’s guru. I’m learning alongside everyone else. I know my way around the wedding business, attachment theory and coaching, but I’m not an authority on everything I find worth writing about. That’s what the podcast is for. Long conversations with people who know more than I do, and enough time to understand these subjects at a practical level.
Curiosity Over FearWe love a good wellness podcast. We just leave out the fear. Here we look at what the research actually says, including where it falls short, and trust you to decide what to do with it.
Beyond the Wedding DayWedding planning podcasts usually stop at the day itself. After more than a decade in weddings, I think the planning season is the interesting part. It’s a rare stretch of time when couples are paying close attention to the life they’re building.
Questions, Not VerdictsRelationship coaching podcasts can lean toward what’s going wrong. We’d rather start with what’s interesting. Attachment style sits happily next to joint accounts and home insurance here, and nobody gets diagnosed.
Open ConversationsLifestyle brand podcasts are lovely to look at. We’re more interested in how a life feels. Every episode ends with the topic still open and the conversation carrying on in the Well Wed Substack community.
